BPS Event: Psychological Wellbeing of Military Families and ...

Following the highly successful event last year our Wessex Branch are holding their 2nd Psychological Well-being Conference, focusing on the dual topics ?Military families? and ?Reservists?.

The conference will be held in Winchester on Wednesday 13 November 2013 and the call for papers closes tomorrow, 30 April.

The event draws upon the issues highlighted in the 2012 conference, including the challenges and issues raised for both reservists and military families living a dual life as part of the military and mainstream society.

Dr Kathryn Fielden, Past Chair of the Branch, said: ?With the changes in the military structure proposed post 2014, it is now appropriate to think beyond the past ten years of military operations in Afghanistan and consider what has been learned and what can be taken forward. With the increase of reservists being integrated into regular forces and the continuing support from families with military personnel the Wessex Branch anticipates the event will be timely and informative.?

The conference will be cross-discipline and of interest not only to clinical, counselling, educational, health and occupational psychologists, but also military personnel and civilians working closely with the military and their families (e.g. the NHS, charities, schools, and emergency and prison services). It will also be of interest to organisations, both public and private sector, that have employees who are reservists or military family members.?

If you are interested in presenting a paper (deadline 30 April) or a poster (deadline Friday 31 May) please visit the?KC Jones website.?
