Danville Loses Playoff Series And Rome Clinches Division With Doubleheader Sweep In Friday's Atlanta Braves Minor League Action

Levi Hyams had 4 hits in Danville's playoff loss.

Danville lost the deciding game 3 of its playoff series, ending their season. Lynchburg lost tonight, eliminating them from winning the second half division title. Still, the team won the first half title, and will face the Wilmington Blue Rocks in the playoffs beginning September 5th. Rome won both ends of a doubleheader tonight to clinch the second half division title. They will play the Asheville Tourists in the first round beginning September 5th.

Gwinnett Braves 0, Norfolk Tides 4

Yohan Flande had was doing a great job of keeping the Norfolk hitters from crossing the plate, but had to leave with 1 out in the 7th after reaching the 100 pitch mark. The 26 year old Dominican lefty finishes his season with a 6-11 record, a 4.21 ERA, a 1.41 WHIP, 6.5 K/9, 3.4 BB/9, and 1.9 K/BB in 147.2 innings over 29 appearances, 27 starts.

Lefty Daniel Rodriguez is scheduled to start against Norfolk on Saturday.

Danville lost game 3 of their playoff series, eliminating them and allowing the Elizabethton Twins to move on to the Appy League Championship series. Williams Perez struggled with his control, walking 4 and allowing 3 runs, 2 earned, in just 3.1 innings of work. Levi Hyams did all he could tonight, rapping out 4 hits and driving in both D-Braves runs. The 22 year old Athens native went 5-9 in the series. Logan Robbins contributed with a 3 hit night, and the 22 year old went 5-11 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI in the series. Danville didn't get much production from its sluggers, as third baseman Carlos Franco went 1-14 in the series and catcher Josh Elander went 1-10 with 2 walks.
