The Bulls outrebounded Miami by a staggering total of 20 (48-28) in beating the Heat last week.
And Detroit, of all teams, beat Miami in late December, partially by enjoying a slight advantage on the boards.
When the Heat are focused defensively and causing turnovers, no team in the league can beat them. If they take a game ? or even a half ? off, then well, who knows what will happen?

Heat-ologists are concerned about Miami?s inability to get on the boards and wonder if the small-ball style of play has run its course. Is it time to bring in a big man and play a more conventional style? And please don?t talk about Chris Bosh. He?s big in size only, and the next time he has to shower after a game will be his first.
Though there is talk about importing Chris Andersen, coach Erik Spoelstra seems to believe that the answer to the team?s rebounding problems is already on the roster. Exactly where on the roster he has declined to say.
Enter the Trail Blazers, who take on the Heat tonight in Portland. The Blazers are only an average rebounding team, which makes their task a bit more difficult. But Portland may be able to catch them napping, because this will be game two of a slippery seven-game road swing.
The Blazers are coming off a game (Orlando) that coaches dream about. Four players ? J.J. Hickson, LaMarcus Aldridge, Damian Lillard and Nicolas Tatum ? all recorded double-doubles, and when that happens it?s next to impossible to lose. Hickson now has 20 double-doubles this season.

What?s going on with the Heat on the road? Miami is only .500 (7-7) away from home. Same players, different result away from home. Miami is even worse ATS, covering the number only five times on the road. Are they bored without beaches?
Are they just waiting things out for three months until we play games that actually count? Portland has always been a hostile environment for visiting teams.
The Blazers are 12-4 at home this year, and even in last year?s hellish (and lockout-shortened) 66-game season, they were 20-13 at home.
Can the Heat overcome all that? Sure. Do they want to expend the energy necessary to guy out a win in the Pacific Northwest? That?s the question.
