Assistant Director of Workshops, Department of Journalism ...

Professional contract position available immediately in the ACEJMC-accredited Department of Journalism.

Responsibilities: provide leadership for the development, planning, coordination, and maintenance of strong and effective workshop programs and outreach efforts; initiate contractual arrangements for speakers, marketing, conferences, and program assessment; plan and coordinate marketing efforts for state and national conferences; work with student office staff, volunteers, and other appropriate departments, supervise, recruit, and train student office staff and volunteers.

Minimum qualifications: bachelor's degree; at least one year of experience working in journalism education, educational support, public relations, student activities, or related area; effective oral and written communication skills; strong organizational skills and deadline oriented; attendance at weeklong, evening, and weekend events as needed; personal computer skills.

Preferred qualifications: bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, or event planning; supervisory experience; familiarity with computer web page design and database management; demonstrated commitment to student development theory and practice and a firm belief in the role of secondary journalism outreach programs in higher education.
