GolfChannel: McIlroy won't blame play on injury

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. ? After being asked repeatedly how his ailing right wrist and forearm are doing, Rory McIlroy quickly connected the scorecard dots: ?I played my best golf on Thursday (the day he injured himself hitting a shot off a root adjacent the third fairway).?

It is true that McIlroy has faded with each round (70-73-74) at the PGA Championship and to the Ulsterman?s credit he is not blaming his substandard play on his injury. ?I?ve struggled with the speed of the greens all week,? he said.

McIlroy said he plans to play the European Masters in three weeks in Switzerland and his manager Chubby Chandler said he will see his normal trainer Steve MacGregor, who is not at Atlanta Athletic Club this week, on Monday in New York City followed by a few days resting and looking for a new home in West Palm Beach, Fla.

?He probably won?t play any until the week of (the European Masters),? Chandler said.
